I am an 18 years old Student, I live in Sondrio near Milan and this year I decided to do a work experience in North Wales.
I started my journey on the 10th of June from my village by car and then I took a plane in Milan with my schoolmates. I decided to make this experience because I love travelling and to improve my English.
I arrived in Manchester in the afternoon and then I took a bus for Chester where my host family live. I spent the first week in the morning at Conlan School in Chester where I had some English lessons and in the afternoon looked around the city. I visited the cathedral and I saw the famous clock. I think Chester is a beautiful city. In Chester I also discovered Poundland a shop where everything costs 1 pound, it is so cool! I also went in the official Liverpool store where I bought the beautiful Liverpool 85/86 shirt. At the weekend we went to Liverpool, I think that is a great city full of history like Beatles or the football club.
After one week I changed my host family. My second host family live in Mochdre near Colwyn Bay in the north of Wales. I really like the food of my “English mum”. I spend my evenings watching the World Cup matches with my friends, so much fun.
In Llandudno, a small town near Colwyn Bay, I visited the Great Orme, it is fantastic! On Saturday I went to Manchester where I saw the Old Trafford and the Science museum. I spent the other days in Colwyn Bay working at Byteback IT Training with my boss Sue. I really like her, she is always kind sympathetic and helpful. I learnt a lot about Camtasia and I have created a video below to demonstrate using Flash Fill in Excel – you can see my first attempt below!
I have also improved my computer knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word.
It has been a very nice and profitable experience for my studies.
I expected lots of rain but I was surprised – because the weather is brilliant!
Llandudno – Great Orme
Colwyn Bay – Beach
Manchester United – Football Stadium
A great big thank to Watsonia Publishing for allowing us to use their fabulous courseware for the creation of Lucas’s video and also Conlan School – an English language school based in Abergele (North Wales) and Chester (England). An original project that couples the teaching of a language with an experience of active communication, in an environment rich in cultural and linguistic stimuli. Read about our history.
